چکیده
Paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) is a chronic enteritis of ruminants caused by infection with Mycobacterium avium subsp paratuberculosis (Map), a slow growing, Gram-positive, 30 acid-fast bacillus. There are three major strains of this organism; S type (sheep type, Type I), C type (cattle type, Type II) and intermediate type (Type III), which have shown strong host preference in Australia. A further type, known as bison type (B type) can be identified among Type II strains.

Goat paratuberculosis in Shiraz: Histopathological and molecular approaches
In the present study, Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) was investigated in goats slaughtered in Shiraz abattoir using histopathological examinations and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Ilium and mesenteric lymph node samples from 66 suspected goat carcasses to Johne’s disease were collected. Among 66 examined slaughtered goats, nine (13.63%) goats were positi...
متن کاملSurvey of Veterinarians and Producers on Johne’s Disease in Iowa Cattle
Iowa’s Johne’s disease (paratuberculosis) control program was assessed for the first time through a survey of all state cattle veterinarians and cattle producers who were reported to the Iowa state veterinarian as having at least one positive diagnostic test result for Johne’s disease within the previous 5 years. Questionnaires assessed (1) the need for continuing education about Johne’s diseas...
متن کاملAn Immuno-Epidemiological Model of Paratuberculosis
The primary objective of this article is to introduce an immuno-epidemiological model of paratuberculosis (Johne’s disease). To develop the immuno-epidemiological model, we first develop an immunological model and an epidemiological model. Then, we link the two models through time-since-infection structure and parameters of the epidemiological model. We use the nested approach to compose the im...

The Utah State Paratuberculosis (Johne’s Disease) Control Program is part of the US nationwide Voluntary Bovine Johne’s Disease Control Program. Nearly every state in the US has a similar Johne’s Disease (JD) control program, and they are seeing the same trends as we have in Utah: dairy veterinarians and producers are participating in JD testing at levels that have progressed from low to extrem...

The National Johne’s Demonstration Herd Project (NJDDHP) in the United States was initiated to evaluate the long-term feasibility and effectiveness of management-related practices designed to control Johne’s disease on dairy and beef cattle operations. The NJDDHP began in 2003 and includes 62 dairy herds and 20 beef herds in 17 states. All herds began with culture-confirmed Mycobacterium avium ...
متن کاملThe Mycobacterium avium Subspecies Paratuberculosis Dilemma
The purpose of this paper is to present and update the longitudinal perspective of the Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis dilemma as initially stated in Infectious Diseases Incorporated’s 2012 White Paper. In both wild and domestic herbivores, Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) produces chronic granulomatous enteritis (Johne’s disease) that, if unchecked, is usua...
